John Vlastelica draws from over 15 years of recruiting experience, including seven years as a corporate recruiting leader and four years as a recruitment management consultant and trainer. He was a Recruiting Director at Amazon.com, where he built, scaled, and led large recruitment functions, and the engineering recruiting leader for two start-up divisions of McCaw/AT&T Wireless. Now, he focuses 100 percent on helping other companies across North America improve their in-house recruiting capabilities.
Through Recruiting Toolbox and his work with Riviera Advisors, he's provided training and recruitment management consulting services to companies of all shapes and sizes, including leading organizations in high-tech, bio-tech, healthcare, financial services, and retail. John’s clients have included Expedia, Eddie Bauer, T-Mobile, Google, Coldwell Banker, WaMu, Kaiser, Safeco, Microsoft, and Zumiez. John has shared his expertise with colleagues as an entertaining and credible presenter at regional and national recruiting conferences (including multiple presentations at ERE Expo, AIRS Symposiums, and SHRM's Staffing Management conferences), through online webinars, and as an instructor for the Strategic Talent Acquisition Roundtable Leadership Academies across the U.S.
He is also an author of several popular recruiting white papers and work published in two books on staffing best practices, and writes for his blog, www.recruitingtoolbox.blogspot.com

John was a four-term President of the Staffing Management Association of Seattle and now serves as their strategic advisor and master of ceremonies for the annual conferences, which draw 250-300 people from around the Northwest. John has also served several terms on the board of Washington State's largest SHRM chapter, the Lake Washington Human Resources Association. In 2006, he received the Distinguished Member Award from the 7,000+ member Northwest Human Resource Management Association.
He graduated magna cum laude, and first in his class, with a degree in business from Western Washington University.
